Exlterra is pleased to announce the appointment of its first certified GEPS installer in Canada, marking a key milestone in the expansion of GEPS across North America.
Terravital, based in the Greater Toronto Area, will cover Southern Ontario and bring GEPS® (Groundwater Energy Passive System) to one of the most dynamic and rapidly growing regions in Canada.
A Strong Local Partner

Terravital is led by Greg and Jamie Opiola, two experienced entrepreneurs with a proven track record of building and growing successful businesses.
With deep roots in the Toronto area and a strong operational mindset, Greg and Jamie bring the structure, discipline, and ambition required to develop GEPS in a new market. Their decision to become certified GEPS installers reflects both a long-term vision and a genuine commitment to delivering solutions that work differently — and better.
"GEPS represents a completely different approach to how stormwater is managed. What immediately stood out to us is that, while the impact is significant, the system itself is straightforward to install and deploy. There is a tremendous need for this type of solution — not only in the Greater Toronto Area, but across Canada and beyond. What also made the decision clear for us is that Exlterra provides both the GEPS system and the HAZL installation rig. It’s a complete, ready-to-deploy solution that allows us to start building the business immediately."

A New Approach to Stormwater and Soil Management

Southern Ontario faces increasing challenges related to urban expansion, stormwater management constraints, soil instability, and aging infrastructure.
GEPS introduces a fundamentally different approach. Rather than relying on traditional drainage systems that move or store water, GEPS works within the soil itself — restoring its natural ability to absorb, redistribute, and balance water. The result is invisible, maintenance-free, and permanent.
As a new category of soil and water management, GEPS requires both technical execution and market development. Terravital will focus on introducing GEPS across residential, commercial, and municipal applications — developing local references, working with engineers and municipalities, and building awareness around an approach to water management that has no equivalent in the Canadian market.
A Strategic Step for Exlterra

The launch of Terravital in Canada represents an important step in Exlterra’s international growth strategy.
"With Terravital, we have found the right partner to introduce GEPS in Canada. Greg and Jamie bring exactly the combination of entrepreneurial drive and operational discipline that building a new market requires. Southern Ontario is a region where the need for better water management solutions is growing — and we are confident that GEPS will establish itself as a new standard for how water behaves in soil."
— Frank Muller, CEO — Exlterra
The arrival of GEPS in Canada is not just a commercial expansion. It is the beginning of a new conversation about how one of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges, water management in soil, can be approached differently.
Exlterra and Terravital are ready to have that conversation.
